THE BRILLIANT DESIGN OF ICE CREAM HAS BEEN OUT OF FASHION?

The most wanted fast-and-furious dessert of all time, cone, has run out of fuel in the chase with ice cream tube. According to The Grocer, the consumption of cone has dropped by 5.5% while those of tube has surged by 6.9%. Quite an enchanting figure and not so charming fact that we have forgot having our pleasure running down to our fingers.

Unlike tube, cone has an excellent design. Take Cornetto for example. It arouses your appetite with a mouthwatering surface decorated with syrup, crispy nuts and mini cones. Then it directs you down to the narrowing channel of pleasure to the point where the pleasure ends. The essence of a Cornetto is that you can never forget there is a happy ending: the nearer you get to it, the closer together your fingers. And by "it", your imagination should get you to a solid piece of chocolate - a tiny cone within a cone.

On the other hand, a tube of ice cream is a lack of sensitivity. Nothing can stop you with your 500ml Fanny's but the bottom of it. If you stretch a cone for a long time, you will have a chance to enjoy it on your fingers. On contrary to a tube, it makes sure you end up full and clean.

However sweet it may sound, the king of cone, Cornetto, is not having the time of his life. Its sales has fallen down by 14%. Being introduced in the decade of stereotypes, Cornetto was enormous. But that was when every body was younger and had smaller appetites than they do now. Perhaps it takes both the flavor and the favor to make ice cream after all. Unilever agrees with a plan to launch a massive 160ml Cornetto, assuring you are satisfied every night while traveling down to the channel of pleasure.

That seems like a shame, even though, as they might miss the point of a cone.
